Risks of digital transformation in road transportation projects
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The article demonstrates that the digitalization of road transportation projects has the potential to increase the efficiency, safety, and convenience of logistics processes, but at the same time it carries risks that require careful analysis and management. The introduction of technologies such as process automation, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and cloud technologies opens up new opportunities for the industry, but these innovations may face certain threats at different stages of projects. The study examines the main types of risks and their sources. The main risks of digital transformation projects in road transportation are technical failures, organizational changes, resistance to the introduction of new technologies, and increased complexity of data management. Information security is becoming a critical aspect as digitalization increases the number of data exchanges, making systems vulnerable to cyberattacks. Technical failures can lead to vehicle malfunctions and disrupt logistics chains. Administrative risks include lack of sufficient skills to work with new technologies, lack of clear organization and management procedures. Analyzing these risks allows companies to identify potential problems in a timely manner and develop management strategies aimed at minimizing negative consequences. Strategic planning, investment in staff training, and information system security are important elements of the successful digital transformation of road transportation projects. This study examines the main risks associated with the digitalization of road transportation and presents a qualitative and quantitative risk analysis that will further enable decisions to be made to mitigate the impact of risk on the project.
