Rock Physics Diagnostic and Density Velocity Analysis for Tanuma Formation in East Baghdad Oil Field, Center of Iraq
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Rock physics is a method of classifying various lithologies and fluids from well logging or seismic inversion data. The targeted reflector is Tanuma Formation, which was studied in well EB-6 of the East Baghdad field to prove the accuracy of Rock-physics outputs. A group of cross plots is extracted and interpreted using the units of Density (RHOP) and Neutron (NHPI) logs, which are used for lithology-predicting of the Tanuma Formation, which consists mainly of tight limestone, porous limestone and shale. The most beneficial benefits of rock physics (in petrophysics) could be initiated by classifying Tanuma lithologic units and determining the most likely profit layer to produce hydrocarbons. The general vision of hydrocarbon probability showed a good match with the result of well logging interpretation in the studied units. Mathematically, the generating of a new polynomial equation of the Tanuma Formation was closely related to the Nafe–Drake global equation.
