Circular Migration, Resilience, Suffering, and Trauma: Understanding the Experiences of Survivors of Assam Floods in India

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In this article, we examine the lived experiences of survivors of Assam floods. Drawing on qualitative data from semistructured interviews conducted with 12 participants, we found that their suffering and trauma stem from loss of property, livelihoods, and loved ones. While many participants experienced significant suffering and trauma, they also demonstrated resilience in their grief, anxiety, and depression. Our findings suggest a need to develop targeted interventions and policies that address their needs and enhance their well-being.
