Phenomenology and prevention of professional burnout of a foreign language teacher at a non-linguistic university

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The authors focus on the phenomenon of "professional burnout" of a foreign language teacher at a non-linguistic university. In recent years, the problem of professional burnout among members of the uni versity community, especially in the context of the dynamic development of society, should constantly be the focus of attention of its representatives, since neglect of this problem determines the high risks of avalanche like development of teachers of the same syndrome and a decrease in the effectiveness of their work with stu dents. As part of the search to minimize and neutralize the negative consequences of this phenomenon, an in formation and analytical review of open sources on the research topic was conducted; the mechanism of professional burnout was identified; specific practical measures were formulated; experimental work was carried out to prove their effectiveness. The research objectives were solved using theoretical methods (critical analysis, comparison and generalization), as well as empirical methods of data collection and accumulation, control and measurement, evaluation and data processing (mathematical, statistical, graphical, tabular). It is shown that, taking into account the characteristic features of the linguistic education process in a non-linguistic university, namely: a clear professional orientation of this process as a whole; the subject-subject nature of interaction, varying roles and the dominance of divergent thinking of participants in the linguistic education process; The combination of personality- and practice-oriented approaches to graduate training has proved to be the best way to prevent and neutralize professional burnout, aimed at increasing the willingness of foreign language teachers at a non–linguistic university to communicate with students on the topics of their future professional activities. The results of the work can be used in the practice of teaching a foreign language at a non-linguistic university.
