Abstract: The article examines the historical development of the idea of serving the Fatherland in Rus sian spiritual life, its modern content and ways of turning it into a genuine vital value for the majority of Russian citizens, organizing and guiding everyday life. To study this problem, it is necessary to use historical, axiologi cal-value, intentional-phenomenological, dialectical and general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis. The research examines the paradigm of Russia's development as a sovereign power. And in this historical peri od, the active participation of the majority of citizens in the implementation of state priorities is required, and therefore the idea of serving the Fatherland as a traditional value is of great importance. This idea originated in ancient times and has been developed and enriched with new features throughout the history of Russia. An im portant role in turning the idea of serving the Fatherland into a real life value is played by the images of heroes who came from the people and form its important basis. Service to the Fatherland should become an internal, institutional idea in the minds of citizens, and correspond to the modern parameters of Russia as a multination al and multi-confessional country. Having experienced the deepest qualitative transformations in the 20th century, Russia in the 21st cen tury ensures its sovereign development in new historical conditions. In order to strengthen the unity of the country and preserve its spiritual identity, society turns to traditional values, primarily to the idea of serving the Fatherland. This value, which originated in ancient times, has been developed and supplemented, trans formed over the course of history. It should have the characteristics of an "all-unity", really uniting various so cio-political approaches, national cultures and religious denominations. Therefore, the value of service to the Fatherland occupies a key place in the paradigm of the formation of a modern, sovereign Russian state. The results of the research can be applied in ideological and educational work, teaching, as well as in fur ther research on the mental characteristics of modern development in Russia. В статье рассматривается историческое развитие идеи служения Отечеству в российской духовной жизни, ее современное содержание и пути превращения в подлинную жизненную ценность для большинства граждан России, организующую и направляющую повседневную жизнь. Для исследования данной проблемы необходимо использование исторического, аксиологически-ценностного, интенционально-феноменологического, диалектического и общенаучного методов анализа и синтеза. В ходе исследования рассматривается парадигма развития России как суверенной державы. И в настоящий исторический период требуется активное участие большинства граждан в реализации государственных приоритетов, в связи с чем идея служения Отечеству как традиционной ценности имеет большое значение. Эта идея зародилась в глубокой древности и развивалась, обогащалась новыми чертами на всем протяжении истории России. Большую роль в превращении идеи служения Отечеству в реальную жизненную ценность играют образы героев, вышедших из народа и составляющих его важную основу. Служение Отечеству должно стать внутренней, институциональной идеей в сознании граждан, соответствовать современным параметрам России как многонациональной и поликонфессиональной страны. Испытав в XX в. глубочайшие качественные трансформации, Россия в XXI в. обеспечивает в новых исторических условиях свое суверенное развитие. Для укрепления единства страны и сохранения ее духовной идентичности общество обращается к традиционным ценностям, прежде всего к идее служения Отечеству. Эта ценность, возникшая в древности, развивалась и дополнялась, преобразовывалась в ходе истории. Она должна иметь характеристики «всеединства», реально объединяя различные социально-политические подходы, национальные культуры и религиозные конфессии. Поэтому ценность служения Отечеству занимает ключевое место в парадигме становления современного, суверенного российского государства. Результаты исследования могут применяться в идейно-воспитательной работе, преподавательской деятельности, а также в дальнейших исследованиях ментальных особенностей современного развития России.
