Abstract: Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes are the backbone of data integration, enabling organizations to manage and analyze vast amounts of information. However, traditional ETL pipelines often struggle with scalability, performance, and efficiency when dealing with massive datasets in the era of big data. This article explores best practices, architectural considerations, and modern optimizations for designing efficient ETL workflows that can handle big data at scale. We discuss distributed processing, cloud-based ETL, automation, and real-time data ingestion to improve performance and reliability.
