Abstract: The floristic study of urban ecosystems at the current stage of development of human society is determined by the process of urbanization, which intensified starting from the 2nd - half of the 20th century. The process of formation of urbocenoses influences the structure and composition of the region vegetation, reduces the number of species, species with a narrow ecological range disappear, non-indigenous species show their invasive nature, etc. The floristic diversity of the Cahul urban ecosystem, which is part of the steppe zone of the Southern Plain, district Bugeacului Steppe, indicates, that the flora of this ecosystem differs radically from the typical spontaneous zonal flora of the steppes. The present article consists in the study and analysis of biological indices, biomorphs, geoelements, ecological groups in relation to the humidity factor, the trophicity of the vascular flora in the Cahul city. The major groups according to floristic diversity are represented by the families Asteraceae and Poaceae, whose dominant position was also established in other urban ecosystems in the Republic of Moldova.
