Blockchain-IoT Healthcare Applications and Trends: Review
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The combination of IoT (Internet of Things) and blockchain technology in healthcare has garnered significant interest due to its potential to improve data security, privacy, and overall efficiency within the sector. IoT facilitates continuous patient monitoring through interconnected medical devices that gather and transmit health data in real-time. Given the sensitivity of this data, robust security measures are crucial to prevent unauthorized access and maintain data integrity. Blockchain technology provides a decentralized and unalterable ledger system that can effectively mitigate these security concerns by ensuring that all data transactions are encrypted, time stamped, and accessible only to authorized users. This paper examines the complementary advantages of integrating IoT and blockchain in healthcare, addressing the challenges and proposing solutions for their implementation. The discussion includes a review of existing frameworks and case studies that highlight the practical application with these contributions.
