Abstract: VETS provide outstanding care for their patients and clients and we're making sure everyone knows it. We recently shared Rolo's story on Facebook. Rolo was taken to Congleton Veterinary Centre when his owner become concerned about his loss of energy. He was severely lethargic and, although his blood test results were unremarkable, his heart was quite muffled. After more tests and imaging, the team at Congleton diagnosed a serious heart condition, pericardial effusion with cardiac tamponade. Fluid was drained from between Rolo's heart and the pericardium which, after being sent off for analysis, was revealed to be septic/infectious fluid. When antibiotics didn't seem to make a difference, Rolo was referred to Pride Veterinary Referrals where they were able to operate and save his life. Now, despite being on strict cage rest for a few weeks, he is happily recovering well. This is just one of the many positive stories we're showcasing as part of our campaign to change the narrative and counter the negative media articles and social media posts questioning the motivation of vets and vet teams since the launch of the Competition and Markets Authority's investigation into vet services for household pets. We're reminding everyone that vets care deeply about the animals in their care and deliver highly skilled treatment every day.
