New initiatives to promote workplace inclusion

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: CVS Group has introduced three key initiatives to enhance equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across its workplaces. These include guidance on handling non-inclusive clients, a ‘What's in a Name?‘ campaign and a microaggressions training course. The handling non-inclusive clients initiative equips staff with strategies to address discriminatory comments in consult rooms, including a visual flowchart for real-time support. ‘What's in a name?‘ emphasises the importance of correct name pronunciation to foster belonging and respect. A new ‘Understanding and avoiding micro-aggressions’ training course educates employees on the impact of micro-assaults, micro-invalidations, and micro-insults, offering practical advice on addressing them. Robin Alfonso, chief financial officer at CVS, said: ‘Everyone at CVS should feel safe, valued and included. These initiatives reinforce our zero-tolerance approach to prejudice.’ Priya Puranik, a vet at The Village Animal Hospital in Caterham, a CVS Group practice
