Abstract: Invited review: A review of some commonly used meta-analysis methods in dairy science research. By Tempelman, page 2115. Some meta-analysis techniques commonly considered within the Journal of Dairy Science are reviewed and compared with each other. Although those strategies recommended by various dairy scientists lead to meta-estimates and associated standard errors that are typically close to those based on likelihood-based methods developed in the statistics literature, the latter category provides greater resiliency for more general designs, particularly for crossover or Latin square designs.
