Abstract: Patrick Moloney, one of the two first graduates of an Australian medical school in 1867, had a most active social life, playing leading roles in many societies. He was a much sought-after speaker. His fluency was enhanced by his literacy, he was fluent in classical Latin and Greek, and widely read in both ancient and modern classical literature. He enjoyed participation in sports and sporting societies though not with much apparent talent!
