Abstract: In the industrial sector, Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) and Quality Leads are routinely tasked with overseeing and coordinating Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations and managing NDT technicians. To effectively fulfill these responsibilities, these professionals must understand NDT-related standards, qualification and certification requirements, and reporting procedures. This presentation will introduce the American Welding Society Non-destructive Examination Coordination (NDEC) Endorsement, a certification endorsement for AWS CWI/SCWI designed to equip NDT coordinators with the skills to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices. Additionally, the presentation will highlight real-world challenges faced by NDE Coordinators in the field, including issues related to personnel qualification, project management, equipment calibration, and reporting accuracy. Attendees will gain insights into common obstacles encountered in NDT oversight and learn strategies for addressing these challenges, ultimately improving the quality and efficiency of NDT operations on complex industrial projects.
