Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate Amritsar as a tourist destination by assessing tourists' perceptions of 25 trip characteristics.A one-sample t-test was conducted on data collected from 405 tourists, using a structured questionnaire and a 5-point Likert scale. The primary objective was to determine the perception of tourists about Amritsar as a tourist destination. The results revealed that Amritsar was viewed positively by tourists, with high ratings for key attractions such as the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Punjabi cuisine, and the city's welcoming atmosphere. These aspects were particularly appreciated for their historical, cultural, and spiritual significance. However, certain features, including the Partition Museum and eco-tourism, received lower ratings, indicating less tourist interest. The one-sample t-test demonstrated significant positive differences for most characteristics, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. The study concluded that Amritsar was highly favoured by tourists, especially for its historical and cultural offerings, while aspects like eco-tourism and museums were less appealing. The findings suggested that improvements in these areas could further enhance tourist satisfaction and broaden Amritsar's appeal as a global tourist destination.
