Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This experiment was conducted at the Poultry Hall, Department of Animal Production, College of Agriculture, University of Anbar, from January 15, 2024, to April 27, 2024. The study assessed the egg quality performance of aged Lohman Brown Classic laying hens using different forced molting programs. The experiment involved 171 laying hens, aged 102 weeks, which were divided into three groups with 19 hens in each replicate T1: Control group (California molting) T2: Treatment (California molting + Melatonin injection) T3: Treatment Melatonin injection The injection was administered subcutaneously in the neck area at a dose of 1 ml containing 140 mg of melatonin dissolved in sesame oil. Yolk diameter exhibited a notable variation in results for egg quality attributes; the melatonin treatment (T3) showed a notable drop (P≤0.05) in yolk diameter when compared to the control treatment (T1). Furthermore, compared to the control treatment (T1), the melatonin treatment (T3) clearly reduced yolk height. But compared to the California melatonin treatment (T2), both the melatonin treatment (T3) and the control treatment (T1) showed a notable increase (P≤0.05) in yolk index. No notable variations in. Results in the second production phase reveal no appreciable variations in egg quality characteristics among all treatments.
