A Systematic Literature Review of Job Stress in Firefighters
Year: 2025
Type: review
Study design: Systematic Review
Abstract: This study analyzed factors related to firefighters’ job stress using a systematic literature review and aimed to provide foundational data for future research on this topic. Twelve articles were included in the final analysis, all of which were prospective studies examining correlations. The literature review identified several variables influencing firefighters’ job stress, including psychosocial well-being, depressive symptoms, job satisfaction, self-resilience, life satisfaction, burnout, and suicidal thoughts. Additional factors affecting job stress included shiftwork, alcohol consumption, fatigue, years of service, emergency mobilization, empowerment, and social support. Based on these findings, this study recommends conducting experimental research on firefighters, developing standardized measurement tools, and creating job stress intervention programs tailored to their needs.
