Antibacterial Potential of Seaweed Chaetomorpha Species Crude Extract Against Oral Pathogen
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Introduction: The oral cavity hosts diverse bacterial species, with some contributing to periodontitis—achronic inflammatory disease affecting tooth-supporting structures. Conventional treatments, includingmechanical therapy and systemic antimicrobials, often fall short due to bacterial resistance and side effects.Marine algae, particularly Chaetomorpha species, have shown promising antimicrobial and antioxidantproperties, making them potential alternatives for managing oral infections. This study evaluates theantibacterial and antioxidant activity of crude Chaetomorpha extract against common oral pathogens.
