Abstract: The main objective of this study is to analyze the process of construction of the Catholic-citizen identity and the networks founded by female Catholic activism during the revolution and post-revolution period. The case study of the Union of Mexican Catholic Ladies (1912-1932) is used to emphasize the way in which the Catholic women built their own civic identity around the defense of their devotional and religious life and in the constant reproduction of the traditional role of women. This identity gave them a political and public voice to defend the Church and religion against the ravages of the post-revolutionary secularism.
