Abstract: This article aims to analyze Adrian Gomes' participation in the Brazilian artistic gymnastics team, particularly her presence at the London Olympic Games. Supported by the theoretical-methodological contribution of Oral History, we conducted interviews with the athlete and people who closely followed different stages of her career, such as her mother, her husband, two of her male coaches and a female coach. The interviews were compared to other sources, such as materials from her personal collection, reports, and academic texts. Two topics emerged from the analysis: the preparation for the Olympic Games and the impossibility of competing. From the gymnast’s narrative, it was possible to identify the long and arduous path she took to reach the Brazilian team, the pride of representing the country in several competitions and the frustration of being injured on the eve of the Olympic competition for which she was registered.
