Home, Fragmented: Proposing a Speculative, Affective Inhabiting of the Home Movie Through a Video Essay Practice
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This text serves as a companion to the essay film Home, Fragmented, a derivative video essay of the original film Home, Revised, where I attempt to use the form of the essay film to map out possible affective loci of the home movie image. The writing proposes the need to repurpose the image as a way to “navigate the ruined map” of the archive, and reflects on the essayistic form as ideal for the praxis of exploring the home movie image and the archival image as a whole. * The project that gave rise to these results received the support of a fellowship from “la Caixa” Foundation (ID 100010434 LCF/BQ/EU22/11930001) *
