Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study analyzes the effect of lending money, asset quality, capital adequacy, and bank size on the profitability of state-owned and private banks in Indonesia, with ROA as an indicator. Panel data regression analysis uses bank data listed on the IDX during 2017-2023. This study reveals a significant difference in the effect of profitability between state-owned and private banks. SOE banks experience a significant negative impact from lending money and asset quality, while private banks show a significant positive effect from lending money. Capital adequacy and bank size have a positive effect on SOE banks, but are not significant in private banks. In conclusion, differences in characteristics and strategies affect profitability, with SOEs needing to improve risk management and efficiency, as well as aggressive utilization of deposits for loans in private banks.
