Many Roads Traveled: Sonographer Insights on Clots in Transit—An Echocardiography Case Series
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Traditionally, a clot-in-transit (CIT) is defined as a mobile thrombus found in the right side of the heart that poses significant embolization risks.1 Typically originating from deep vein thrombosis (DVT), these clots dislodge from the veins and travel to the right side of the heart. Because of their dynamic nature and potential to cause significant complications, timely and accurate detection is crucial. This case series underscores the value of advanced sonographer techniques in imaging CITs, highlighting how their expertise enables the timely recognition of these potentially life-threatening findings.
