Abstract: We came across the publication entitled “Patient-reported outcomes for the phase 3 FURLONG study of furmonertinib versus gefitinib as first-line therapy for Chinese patients with locally advanced or metastatic EGFR mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer”.1 We would like to commend the authors for incorporating patient reported outcomes (PROs) in the evaluation of the treatment efficacy of furmonertinib. PROs and health-related quality of life assessments play an important role in the comprehensive evaluation of the impact of cancer treatments on the patient-reported experience, which will ultimately provide better informed shared-decision making between clinicians and their patients, and across different stakeholders.
