Abstract: The children’s poem Polámal se mraveneček by Josef Kožíšek, which has gained cult status over several generations in the Czech Republic with the illustrations of Ondřej Sekora, is the starting point for a detailed German adaptation. The aim is to make the story of the little ant’s suffering and its miraculous recovery through the emotional power of the community accessible to German children, their parents, and grandparents. Furthermore, the adaptation can also motivate Czech learners of German of all age groups to engage with foreign language learning in a completely new way
