Legal Requirement Analysis for 3D Cadastral Database Design

Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT The growing complexity of modern infrastructures and land ownership necessitates transitioning from 2D to 3D cadastral databases to manage rights, restrictions, and responsibilities (RRRs) effectively. Requirements collection and analysis are critical steps in gathering entities, relationships, and attributes to design a database. This paper aims to find what the complex legal requirements are and how these requirements can be solved using 3D spatial analysis and database‐driven approaches. Real‐world scenarios related to boundary analysis, including diverse boundaries and complex cases like unlimited and vertical extensions, airspace, infill, and subsurface spaces, are examined. Additionally, accessibility analysis and the impact of static and dynamic restrictions on RRRs are analyzed. Various 3D spatial analyses, including spatial relationships, query usage, execution, storage, and output, are determined, with alternative solutions provided for implementation. This research demonstrates the feasibility of database‐driven approaches for 3D cadastral databases, enhancing the management of complex property rights in urban environments.
