Economically Effective and Environment Friendly Smart Energy Management System for Textile Industries
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Energy management within the textile industry has become a significant contemporary concern. The textile sector is a major contributor to both employment, providing livelihoods for millions of people, and a substantial portion of the global GDP. This industry encompasses various types of electrical loads, such as those associated with the warping section, sizing section, weaving shed, compressors, chillers, and colony facilities. Among these, some loads are flexible, while others are inflexible. For instance, loads like those in the warping section and sizing section are considered flexible. In the context of this research article, an energy management system is proposed for the textile industry. This system aims to optimize load scheduling by distinguishing between shiftable and non-shiftable loads. The primary objectives are cost minimization in electricity consumption and the reduction of emissions through the application of multiobjective optimization techniques. The proposed model envisions the utilization of electricity from various sources, including the utility grid, gas turbines, and diesel generators, to ensure an uninterrupted power supply that can meet the varying load demands of the textile industry. The research endeavors to develop an efficient energy management system for the textile sector, addressing multiobjective optimization challenges through binary integer linear programming (BILP) and the employment of the branch-and-bound algorithm.
