Abstract: The article is devoted to the definition of the current state of state support for agriculture, analyzes the state support for agricultural producers in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The main pool of regulatory documents has been identified, on the basis of which the currently existing instruments of state support for agriculture have been identified. The trend of agricultural activity of all forms of management is highlighted. The scientific research carried out by the group of authors is reflected in the works of domestic and foreign scientific researchers, in the proceedings of Russian and foreign scientific and practical conferences, symposiums, seminars. The authors also emphasize that an important aspect of government support for agriculture is the support of small businesses, including farms, through grants, subsidies and preferential loans. Programs such as Agrostartap and Agroprogress contribute to the development of farming and job creation. Special attention is paid to the introduction of artificial intelligence in the agro-industrial complex, which requires a review of government support mechanisms. The study also analyzes the dynamics of financing for the agro-industrial complex, which by 2025 should reach a level of at least 500 billion rubles per year. Data are provided on the growth of agricultural production, especially in the sector of agricultural organizations, the share of which increased from 45,3 % in 2000 to 64,8 % in 2023. Using the example of the Nizhny Novgorod region, it is shown how government support contributes to the modernization of agriculture, the introduction of modern technologies and increased efficiency. Small business enterprises are actively developing in the region, which is associated with an increasing interest in environmentally friendly products. The study highlights the importance of an integrated approach to supporting agriculture to ensure the sustainable development of the industry.
