Abstract: In the conditions of active development of technogenic-natural landscapes, the destruction of soil cover is becoming an increasingly acute environmental problem. Special attention should be paid to the issue of negative consequences of oil and oil product spills, which cause serious damage to soils and ecosystems, reducing biodiversity, soil fertility and damaging water resources. Accidents during the transport of oil and oil products exacerbate the situation, making soil remediation an important task for ensuring environmental sustainability. Effective soil remediation after oil contamination remains a complex problem requiring innovative approaches. Existing soil remediation methods are often ineffective, especially when dealing with large areas and difficult climatic conditions. The development of integrated methods for assessing soil condition and monitoring the soil remediation process is necessary to ensure environmental sustainability. The authors of the study propose to use the method of fractal dimension analysis to assess the effectiveness of oil-contaminated soil remediation. This approach uses a biochar and mycorrhiza-based sorbent to help increase plant germination and stimulate plant growth in contaminated soil. Experimental methods for analysing soil phytotoxicity and measuring the fractal dimension of green plant biomass allowed the evaluation of different soil remediation scenarios. The study showed that the addition of a biochar-based sorbent significantly improves plant germination and promotes plant biomass growth even under oil-contaminated conditions. The new method of fractal dimension analysis confirmed its efficiency and accuracy in assessing changes in green biomass, which makes it a promising tool for rapid assessment of soil cover condition and efficiency of remediation measures. The results obtained provide valuable information for improving soil remediation methods and improving the ecological state of natural ecosystems. The use of biochar-based sorbents and fractal dimension analysis methods opens up new opportunities for developing effective strategies for the rehabilitation of contaminated territories and increasing the resilience of ecosystems to external impacts.
