Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study explores the integration of Extended Reality (XR) technology with the ‘Magical Girl’ fantasy theme to encourage physical activity among young women. The interactive content includes jumping, dodging, and running, dynamic physical movements required to simulate magical girl training, through five engaging games. Each game is designed to encourage participants to move their bodies to avoid obstacles or achieve objectives. These mechanisms not only enhance the immersive experience of the games but also play a crucial role in naturally promoting physical activity. Using projection map- ping in real-world spaces, the system operates without the need for head-mounted displays, ensuring accessibility and immersion. A survey conducted with 79 participants revealed high levels of enjoyment, immersion, and positive attitudes toward exercise, confirming the effectiveness of this approach. The experience is further enriched with a personalized photo zone, fostering deeper engagement. These findings highlight the potential of themed XR content to transform physical activities, fostering healthier lifestyles.
