Still life as a means of rediscovering the traditional interior in Moldovan painting of the 1970s

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article explores how Moldovan artists in the 1970s used still life to reflect and rediscover the traditional elements of rural interiors. In the context of a society undergoing significant changes, still life becomes a means through which traditions and cultural values are preserved and transmitted. Painters of the 1970s included objects specific to everyday life in their works, such as vases, fruits, and flowers, which not only reflected the beauty and simplicity of the traditional interior but also symbolized the deep connection between man and nature. Through their compositions, they reinterpreted the traditional interior, highlighting both the aesthetics of the everyday and the symbolic meanings of household objects. Thus, still life becomes a form of preserving cultural heritage, as well as a way of connecting the past to the present during a time marked by social and political transformations.
