Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Indigenous and tribal peoples bear the brunt of the climate emergency. They are particularly vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change due to their dependence on nature for their survival and economic livelihoods. This research aims to encourage the Indonesian government to develop adaptive policies based on climate justice. This research is a normative juridical research with an analytical descriptive nature legislative approach (statute approach), with data obtained through documentation studies. The research results show that using local wisdom values and traditional knowledge can be the key to building the resilience of traditional communities in facing climate change. through the role of traditional women. So far, indigenous women have been provided with traditional ecological knowledge from generation to generation regarding resource management, forest conservation, agriculture and livelihoods, however, the important role of indigenous women is neglected and marginalized as indigenous peoples have not yet received full legal recognition and protection in Indonesia. Constitutional Court Decision Number 35/PUU-X/2012 which restored the status of customary forests to customary law community rights forests is the basis for strengthening the use of local wisdom values and traditional knowledge as a basis for climate resilience for indigenous law communities in Indonesia are at the forefront in meeting targets reducing the production of greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent by 2030. Affirming the traditional ecological knowledge of indigenous women in climate change adaptation, the Indonesian government needs to include the collective rights of indigenous women in policies, both at the local and national levels.
