Tempering Effect on Cr Containing Low Alloy Steel after Sintering
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In this study, the effects of tempering on the mechanical properties and microstructure of chromium-containing low-alloy steel following sintering were investigated. Tempering is typically employed to reduce brittleness and relieve residual stresses in sintered steels when quenching process is applied. Depending on the amount of graphite added, products manufactured from chromium-containing low-alloy steel powder (Fe -3% Cr -0.5% Mo) may require subsequent tempering after sintering to promote the formation of a martensitic microstructure.
