Standardizing Earlier Testing Protocols to Reduce Hospital-Onset Clostridioides Difficile Infections on a Medical-Surgical Oncology Unit

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Clostridioides difficile infections (CDIs) are the most common type of hospital-acquired infections in the United States and pose significant consequences for patients and healthcare systems (Kociolek et al., 2023). Patients with cancer are at increased risk for CDIs because of recurrent hospitalizations, immunosuppression, antibiotic use, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy (Francisco et al., 2023; Kociolek et al., 2023).
