Abstract: The article examines the concept of ecologically oriented reconstruction in decentralized governance as an important element of sustainable development. The processes of territorial reconstruction after crisis events, such as military conflicts, man-made disasters or natural disasters, often focus on short-term economic goals, neglecting environmental and social aspects. This approach does not ensure long-term sustainability and can lead to further degradation of natural resources and deterioration of living conditions of the population. Ecologically oriented reconstruction is based on the principles of rational use of resources, integration, introduction of renewable energy sources, preservation of ecosystems and socialand social integration. It is aimed at minimizing the impact of human activities on the environment, whilecreating favorable conditions for economic growth and social well-being. In the context of decentralizedgovernance, this approach takes on particular importance, the latter local communities support greaterautonomy in addressing environmental issues and can adapt solutions to their unique needs. The paperanalyzes the role of decentralization as a factor contributing to the effective implementation of environmental approaches in reconstruction processes. It is noted that decentralized governance ensures the financial autonomy of communities, ensures their responsibility and promotes the active involvement of the local population in decision-making. The article also outlines key tools for ecological reconstruction, such as eco-technologies, financial mechanisms, digital monitoring tools and organizational measures aimed at developing environmental awareness. Particular attention is paid to the challenges that stand in the way of implementing environmentally-oriented reconstruction, including insufficient funding, technicallimitations, low levels of environmental awareness and gaps in the regulatory framework. The conclusionsoffer recommendations for improving the environmental focus of reconstruction under decentralized governance, which may be useful for Ukraine and other countries facing similar challenges.
