Abstract: The generative grammar model which Noam Chomsky initiated offers a system which enables the analysis of the formation of a particular sentence and the regulation of language. In light of this, the main aim of the article under analysis is to examine the concept of generative grammar in general, review the components hypothesized by the founders of this theory, and the future of the study of Language in the aspect of this theory. This paper discusses how generative grammar works by allowing the indexing of an infinite set of sentences from a finite set of rules which makes it useful in language analysis. Furthermore, the main idea is illustrated in its application in artificial intelligence, language acquisition, and syntactic theory in the article.
