3D Printed Mesh Geometry Modulates Immune Response and Interface Biology in Mouse and Sheep Model: Implications for Pelvic Floor Surgery (Adv. Sci. 11/2025)
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Tissue Engineering Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) affects over 50% of women in later stages of life. This study uses melt electrowriting (MEW) 3D printing to create meshes for POP treatment, optimising design for cellular response. Meshes at 22.5° angle show improved strength, cell attachment, and tissue integration. Preclinical evaluations in animal models indicate enhanced degradation and healing, suggesting potential for improved future vaginal implants in pelvic surgery.
