Abstract: The opioid epidemic remains one of the most pressing public health crises of the 21st century, with its devastating impact on communities, families, and healthcare systems. In response, public health approaches have evolved to mitigate the harmful effects of opioid misuse, overdose, and addiction. These approaches include prevention strategies, harm reduction, treatment services, and policy reforms aimed at reducing opioid-related morbidity and mortality. Public health initiatives focus on addressing the root causes of opioid misuse, including socioeconomic factors, mental health issues, and prescription practices. This article explores the key public health strategies deployed to combat the opioid epidemic, evaluates their effectiveness, and outlines future directions to address this ongoing crisis.
