Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: In Pakistan, despite rising cases of domestic violence and increasing murder rates, there has been a notable lack of substantial empirical data on these issues over the past decade. Factors such as social and cultural influences that trigger these events, as well as the emotional and social impact on family members, remain underexplored. This study asserts that contemporary Pakistani society lacks effective solutions to address these murder incidents. Utilizing a grounded theory approach, the present research investigates the underlying causes of murder in Pakistan. The study aims to identify the overall patterns of these crimes and evaluate the measures taken to address them. By focusing on Tehsil Chak Jhumra in Faisalabad, the findings will help assess whether current strategies can effectively assist the government in reducing murder rates. This research seeks to propose efficient strategies that require comprehensive interventions to address all dimensions of loss experienced by bereaved families. A quantitative research method was adopted, with data collected through surveys filled out by victims' families. The consequences of murder for family members are profound, including prolonged legal battles, financial instability, psychological distress, and social stigma. Government institutions were identified as crucial in providing support to grieving families through crisis counseling, victim support programs, access to mental health services, legal assistance, advocacy, community outreach, and educational initiatives.
