Abstract: Dear Colleague, As the festive season starts in our part of the world, there is also apprehension about the winter in this dawn of climate change. Be that as it may, our journal has good material for you, so go ahead and enjoy the science. The first article on cardiovascular risk assessment among the Indian population titled “Cardiovascular risk assessment and its components using 10-year ASCVD risk score plus among Indian population: A hospital-based cross-sectional study” is timely and contributed by three postgraduate students from Bengaluru, India. This article re-emphasizes the high prevalence of modifiable risk factors in our (urban) community. The time to act is now. The second article from Ghana titled “Cardiopulmonary resuscitation among nurses working at a tertiary hospital in Ghana: A cross-sectional study” is a timely reminder that it is good to test our first-line personnel in the use of a lifesaving procedure at opportune times given the seriousness of the situation and the high stakes involved. The third article “Prevalence and prognostic significance of familial hypercholesterolemia among patients with premature coronary artery disease admitted to a tertiary care hospital: A prospective observational study” from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, is again a very timely article of a disease not widely known in our country but has huge ramifications. In an accompanying article, Dr Upadhyayula discusses the proposal for modified diagnostic criteria tools for familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), an adaptive clinical tool for diagnosing FH without the requirement for clinical genetic testing. FH is an uncommon disease but not that rare also, at least the heterozygous form. With an estimated prevalence of approximately 1:300 in the general population, there would be a large number of individuals (and in fact, families) living with heterozygous FH in our country. Timely recognition of FH and aggressive lipid lowering are crucial to prevent young individuals from falling prey to untimely atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Unfortunately, FH is very commonly missed due to the lack of awareness among the clinicians, and hence, any effort to draw attention toward this entity is welcome. The fifth submission is a case report “Common origin of all three coronary arteries arising from right sinus of Valsalva: A rare case report” from Odisha. The management is well articulated. The final article also from Bengaluru is a very interesting read on a rare phenomenon – “Brugada phenocopy switch.” Worth a read! So, dear reader, this issue of your journal is a heady mix of articles and case reports. Happy reading.
