Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) involves structural and functional kidney changes, with dialysis or transplantation defining End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).Dialysis patients face high mortality, with cardiac disease as the leading cause, accounting for 37% of deaths in those undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. Methods: This is a Prospective and observational study The study was conducted at our hospital on patients attending nephrology OPD &indoor patients.Patients have known cases of chronic kidney diseases.Their clinical profile, renal function tests, serum electrolytes, HIV, HBsAg, HCV.hemodialysis patients admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital.Included were patients over the age of 18 with chronic renal disease, both male and female, receiving dialysis in a tertiary care facility. Results: The mean age of subjects was 52.89±9.86years, with most (35.6%) in the 51-60 years group.Mean urea, creatinine, Na+, and K+ levels were 124.04±35.72,10.19±1.89mg/dl, 140.34±6.644meq/L, and 5.25±0.46meq/L, respectively. The mean number of dialysis sessions was 32.58±10.57.DM (41.8%),HTN (77.4%), and both (20.5%) were observed.Mean SBP and DBP significantly decreased after dialysis (145.60±13.037 to 129.68±24.570mmHg and 89.74±7.335 to 80.22±13.759mmHg, respectively). Conclusion: Hemodialysis is a beneficial procedure for the removal of wastes but is not completely free of risks.A lot of complications are associated with the process which can be overcome by taking careful measures, skilled staff and patient compliance.Age and sex distribution with problems did not significantly correlate in the current investigation.
