Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Mandibular fractures are one of the most common types of facial fractures and often result from trauma to the head and neck region. Understanding the mechanism-based factors resulting in different patterns of mandibular injury is important for their surgical management. This study reports a unique mandibular fracture whereby the symphysis and bilateral mandibular bodies were fractured following a gunshot wound to the maxillofacial region. A literature review of case reports on bilateral mandibular fractures highlights the uniqueness of the presented case and supplements the text as the initial management, treatment, and prognosis of the case are discussed.
