Empowerment of Muslim Women in Politics: From Marginalization to Representation in India
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Political representation in an effective way is a sign of true democracy. The higher the participation, the healthier the democracy. The share of Muslims in political participation has decreased over the years; even in the current government, there is no single Muslim cabinet member. On the other hand, Muslim women are victims of oppression in two ways: as a woman and a member of a minority community who are educationally, economically, socially, and politically backward. This study analyzes Muslim women's marginalization to represent in the political process and their role as politicians in uplifting society.
