Applicability of bacteria of the genera Paenibacillus and Bacillus in the productive performance of agricultural crops
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of the application of Paenibacillus azotofixans, isolated, and in combination with Bacillus circulans, Bacillus licheniformis and Bacillus subtilis via seed and sowing furrow treatment on the expression of agronomic traits of maize, soybean and wheat, under field conditions. The experiments were conducted in 2022 and 2023, in different environments, to evaluate the efficiency of the application of inoculants in complement to chemical fertilization. The variance components and genetic parameters were estimated by the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) procedure. BLUP was used to determine the effect of interaction with the environments and the ranking of the treatments. The performance of the BTP 0167-20 inoculant was superior to the use of chemical fertilization alone and similar to the inoculants used as standard, in all crops, with the potential to reduce the chemical fertilization dose by up to 25%. The inoculant BTP 186-22 (P. azotofixans isolated) did not differ from BTP 0167-20 for wheat root dry weight.
