Abstract: The paper examines the main factors of the formation of the Buruktal deposit, including paleogeographic, paleoclimatic, morphological, petrological and endogenous. A step-by-step scheme for the development of the weathering crust has been drawn up, providing for the polygenic genesis of the deposit. As a result of a comparative analysis, the main features, similarities and differences in the conditions for the formation of nickel-bearing weathering crusts in the Southern Urals and New Caledonia were identified.
