Inhibition effect of cashew phenol polyoxyethylene ether on self-corrosion of anode of alkaline aluminum-air batteries
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This work introduces the use of cashew phenol polyoxyethylene ether (CPPE) as an effective and environment-friendly additive for alkaline aluminum-air batteries. The effectiveness of CPPE in protecting aluminum alloy is investigated through H 2 evolution experiments, electrochemical measurement and surface analysis. It indicates that CPPE effectively prevents the self-corrosion of aluminum alloy. The inhibition effectiveness is 74.5 % at 0.20 mmol·L −1 CPPE. The battery performance is also tested without and with CPPE in the electrolyte. The capacity density and the energy density of aluminum-air batteries are enhanced remarkably in the presence of CPPE. • The corrosion inhibition mechanism of CPPE is investigated. • The relationship between micelle concentration and corrosion inhibition is studied. • A fabricated Al-air full battery to research its performance parameters.
