Type: article
Abstract: In light of the aggravation of man-made and military threats, in particular the threat of radiation pollution as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine, the problem of forming radiation literacy of the younger generation is becoming more urgent. At the same time, the issue of integrating radiation literacy into the structure of the health-saving competence of secondary school teachers remains insufficiently studied. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the role of the teacher's health-saving competence in the formation of students' radiation literacy as a factor in creating a safe educational environment. Research methods: theoretical analysis of scientific literature, generalisation, systematisation, comparative analysis, modelling, induction and deduction, abstraction, synthesis. The key concepts of the study are clarified: ‘teacher's health-saving competence’, “radiation literacy”, “safety of the educational environment”. The theoretical foundations of integrating radiation literacy into the structure of teacher's healthsaving competence are determined, its importance for the formation of a conscious perception of radiation risks, the development of adaptive behavioural strategies and readiness for effective action in radiation emergencies is substantiated. The necessity of combining cognitive, activity and axiological components in the process of forming radiation literacy is proved. It is substantiated that such integration is based on the axiological priority of preserving the health, life and ability to work of the subjects of the educational process. Conclusion. The results indicate a direct link between the level of teacher's health-saving competence, including radiation literacy, and the creation of a safe educational environment, and provide grounds for further research on the development of methodological recommendations and assessment of the level of radiation literacy of teachers and students.
