Optimización de Tiempos de Espera para el Transporte Público en Rumiñahui mediante una Aplicación Móvil Basada en IoT

Abstract: This study optimizes public transportation in the Metropolitan District of Quito (DMQ), focusing on the trolleybus in Rumiñahui. A mobile application based on IoT is developed to systematize frequencies, distances and stops, improving operational efficiency and reducing travel times by 18% on average. The bibliographic research allowed us to select SQL Server/Express and Visual Studio (Xamarin) as key technological tools. The solution manages routes, units and records in an automated manner, integrating QR technology for interaction with users. The results show a reduction in waiting time by 15% and a 25% increase in user satisfaction, according to post-implementation surveys. This system modernizes public transportation management and contributes to the efficient mobility of the DMQ.
