Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ‘Kurier Bibliofilski’ was published in Krakow between 1938 and 1939, under the editorship of Igor Demian. The magazine published texts on book studies and bibliophilia, which were a source of knowledge and information for readers. The editors also undertook a variety of activities addressed to book lovers and collectors. These, inter alia, included an antiquarian offer; assistance in setting up and completing book collections; printing bibliographic materials; subscribing to graphic designs; acting as an intermediary in the exchange of publications; offering to design bookplates by well-known Polish graphic artists; and a competition for the design of a library bookcase. The proposed activities were well received by the magazine’s readers, and the editors intended to extend their offer to include some other ones. The purpose of the article is to discuss the initiatives of the ‘Kurier Bibliofilski’ – both implemented and planned – addressed to book collectors during the interwar period.
