Abstract: This article introduces the conceptual prism as an innovative tool to enhance critical reading skills in high school students. Based on a qualitative methodology and Design-Based Research, the process included phases of diagnosis, design, and practical application in three institutions in Medellín, involving 176 students and 60 teachers. The tool focuses on analyzing textual macrostructures and microstructures, pragmatism, and personal critique, fostering skills such as identifying main ideas, making inferences, and developing critical arguments. The findings reveal significant improvements in reading comprehension, critical thinking, and motivation towards reading, suggesting that the conceptual prism promotes reflective and meaningful learning. Furthermore, its value in developing communicative competencies and its potential utility for future research are highlighted.
