Verification of the accuracy of a compact beam energy monitor
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: A Beam Energy Monitor (BEM) is a novel compact beam diagnostic device for measuring the kinetic energy of charged particle beams of cyclic accelerators. The presented results are based on a BEM developed and tested at the MGC-20 cyclotron of the HUN-REN Institute for Nuclear Research (ATOMKI) in Debrecen, Hungary. In this work the results of the performance tests are reported. After testing the accuracy of the signal processing hardware and software, well-known neutron emission threshold reactions were used to investigate the achievable accuracy of the energy measurement with the new device in real, practical operation.
